Exodus 32:26 (NKJV) Then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp and said, “Whoever is on the Lords side – come to me!” and all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.” Dear brothers and sisters we would all have to be living in a secluded cave somewhere to not be aware that we are in an election year. Our media airways and our printed newspapers and magazines along with political mailings are starting to find their way into our homes almost daily. And we seem to be hearing one particular tune and that is “What side are you on.” Now we must keep in mind that many voters today grew up in homes that were politically motivated to side with a particular party and to follow the direction in which they were leading. I think I would be safe to say that most people grew up in families that choose to follow either the Democratic or Republican viewpoints. I believe tradition plays a huge role in our decision- making process in what political party to follow. I passionately believe today there is another option we need to seek when it comes to making decisions that affect our way of life. Most people would agree that the decisions that are made by our elected officials in our cities, states, and at the national level, will affect our way of life either directly or indirectly. I believe Moses said it PERFECTLY to the children of Israel when he came down from the mountain with the Ten Commandments, and then Joshua pretty much repeats it when he speaks to the children of Israel just before they enter the promised land “Whoever is on the Lords side choose this day whom you will serve!” If we are true followers of Jesus Christ, our voting should not be based on political persuasion, but based on those who publicly and privately support the word of God and His will and plans for our country. It’s truly amazing to me how people can twist around the facts that this wonderful country in which we have had the blessing of being born into, that was founded and developed by God fearing men and women who sought the face of God I all their decision making. It is exciting to think where we would be as a nation if all our leaders were seeking after God’s divine empowerment and leading in their decision making. Each one of us is held responsible and accountable for how we vote because our vote will bring to light where our hearts are and what we believe in and what we are willing to support. I hear so many people say that they just cannot watch the news or read the paper anymore because it is just too depressing and I would have to agree to a certain degree. But if we are going to vote we need to be informed voters. We must take this responsibility seriously. Unfortunately, Christian people have taken this responsibility too lightly in the past years and now we are having to live I a Godless society that like a cancer, is eating away at the moral foundation of our nation. We need to be believing and living the truth that God IS on our side, not wondering if God is on our side. Blessings on you!!
